Distinguish
Distinguish successful termination, marked by active engagement, a thorough review of therapy, and closure, from unsuccessful termination, and explain why clients and therapists often attribute endings differently.
Identify
Identify referral and post-termination resources, including spiritual directors, clergy, support groups, group therapy, crisis lines, and parish or Catholic Charities services, that support continuity of care.
Apply
Apply spiritually integrated termination practices, such as a gratitude session, celebratory rituals, the Ignatian examen, warm handoffs, and clear post-termination boundaries, to close therapy ethically and well.
